Physics Teacher education and Professional Development:
Characteristics, problems and researches

The International Commission on Physics Education (ICPE), Commission 14 of the International Union on Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP), prioritises pre-service teacher education and teacher professional development as critical to the future of physics. Comparing and sharing research and experiences on the subject at an international level is needed to uplift practices.

To facilitate this, ICPE is currently seeking papers on a broad cross-section of topics. Authors will present their work at a virtual International Conference held in November 18-20, 2026, from which the top 30 papers will be selected for inclusion in a peer-reviewed open-access volume published by Nuovo Cimento in 2027, with final versions of the presented contributions due by February 10, 2027.
